Where Can You Go to Get More CraigsList Phone-Verified Accounts?

Where can you go to get more CraigsList Phone Verified Accounts is the question on just about every marketer's mind since the weekend of September 6th and 7th, 2008, when CraigsList added the "For Sale" and "Wanted" sections to the list of sections requiring phone-verified accounts, which already included the "Services" and "Personals" sections.

What this means to you as a marketer is that, if you don't have a Phone-Verified Account, you can't advertise on CraigsList.

If you're one of the many people using Voice-Over-Internet Protocol (VOIP) these days, then you're also one of the many people who are unable to get a Phone-Verified Account, because only a fixed line will work with the phone-verification process that CraigsList is using.

Even if all you want to do is just simply put up a "For Sale" ad on CraigsList to sell the baby furniture your child has outgrown, as of the weekend of September 6th and 7th, 2008, you can't do it unless you have a CraigsList Phone-Verified Account, and you can't get one of those unless you have a fixed line to get it with.

So what do you do?

Some people have tried going to a public pay phone and, with the help of a friend at home on the computer who is simultaneously applying for the account, waiting for the phone to ring so they can copy down the verification number, and then going back home again to finish signing up for their CraigsList account by dropping that verification number into the proper box on the application form.

This works if you can find a pay phone that somebody else hasn't already tried to use for the same purpose, but it means chasing all over town looking for a "virgin" pay phone with no guarantee that you'll find one, especially now that so many people are looking for them.

Other people have tried to find fixed lines online, but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack, and even if you do find one, you still have several more hurdles to cross.

The fixed line has to come from a source that CraigsList hasn't already banned, in the first place, and even if you succeed in finding one of those, you still have to figure out how to prepare it for its intended purpose, in the second place, because if you don't, the account you open with it will get banned, too.

So why is this happening?

Well -- not to put too fine a point on it -- it's happening because some people started spamming CraigsList with so many ads that the system was very nearly brought to its knees and something had to be done about it, if it was to continue to be the excellent community resource it's always been.

Unfortunately, the price of blocking spammers from clogging CraigsList is being paid in part by regular people who can't advertise now, because they can't get a CraigsList Phone-Verified Account, because they don't have the right type of phone line to get it with.

The good news is that services have emerged in the marketplace to help solve this problem. If you are one of the many people who are now left high and dry without a CraigsList Phone-Verified Account, then you can find more information about where to go to get one at Reviews-and-Recommendations.
